Ok, What is Impacted Tooth? why is dental surgery necessary to correct this? First, Impacted teeth are teeth that failed to surface out of the gums properly. meaning that the teeth is stucked under the gums.

 

Second, a tooth is also said to be "Impacted" if it partially surfaced out of the gums but did not come out completely, either because the tooth is growing sideways, or not growing in upright position, and it is pushing its way out of the gums against another completely grown teeth.

 

Impacted tooth or Teeth can cause serious Dental problems and discomfort if left untreated over time. it is known to cause swelling of the gums, damaging a nearby tooth causing part of that tooth to chip off,  and sometimes it can also lead to formation of cysts or tumors that can destroy sections of the jaw and many more issues that are too many to discuss here.

 

This is treated by removal of the impacted tooth or teeth through dental surgery.  Best to keep a regular checkup with a dentist to detect impacted tooth in early stages. Types or Classification of Impacted Wisdom tooth

Mesio-Angular impaction: The most common type of impacted wisdom teeth. Where the wisdom tooth grows at angled facing, towards the front of the mouth.

Disto-Angular impaction: The wisdom tooth angled is back to front. This is the most difficult procedure  to remove impacted tooth.

Horizontal Impaction: where the wisdom tooth grows horizontally to the normal occusal plane.

Vertical Impaction: The wisdom tooth is straight, but can’t break complete the gums accurately because it’s stuck against the adjacent tooth
